26.5.13

here I am
inspired by my friend Patrice
and always by ANY words that Berkoff chooses to spill onto the page
words and pictures
words and pictures

the reason we all blog
(and why I should more often, sigh)

not my own drawings - but I am flying out the door to catch a plane tomorrow
can you guess where to...?

one hundred

new year's resolutions
return to blogging regularly
and eat more fish.
so far so good with the seafood.
and 7 days into this year is not so bad seeing as I have been slacker than slack around here lately.

(thanks for the lovely comments on my last post - I have answered you all there x)

I bought this camera for $5 last week at a garage sale.
it's a beauty.
google assures me that it isn't worth very much despite its retro good looks.
however it also tells me that the date it was made is written on it.
and there it is!
100 years old today.
unbelievable, sweet and true
and this is a bug on my wall

moodboards

a few months ago I won this Mud Australia competition.
since then they asked me to contribute images for their new catalogue.
the brief was to make inspiration moodboards which represented all the colours in their product range.
colours with great names like - slate, wasabi, pistachio, milk, ocean.
what fun.

many photos from this blog feature in it.
so throughout the catalogue are pics of my time spent in new york and tokyo, there are snippets of my home, our dinners, our holidays at the beach and in the snow. some of my drawings too.
snatches of life and memories and bits of string and feathers and collected bits and bobs.
the stylist on the day was the divine emma knowles.
please look at this link to see the finished work.

and thank you for all your lovely comments xx

change

so, I moved.
from one great beach in Sydney to another one just as good.
I have moved an hour from the city.
to live on a hill near the sea.

Avalon.
and I'm so glad that I did.

we are slowly, slowly renovating.
bringing this house back to life with our love.
things still need to come out of boxes and so much needs to be done.

but it is nice.
and I have home love.

:)

(that light fitting has to go!)

hiatus

'hi-at-us' - a temporary pause or interruption in space, time or continuity.

how can it be that it has been exactly four months since I was here?
Autumn took over the Summer That Never Was and now we are past mid Winter ...

but I am here.
again.
I have been making a nest.
meeting the trees.
planting new seeds
and blending a family.

and have come back to share these things.

thank you
to all who have coaxed me out of my hibernation with your warm words.
I have missed you.
you and you and you and you and you and you ...

20.3.12

I so love the mornings here in our new house.
We wake up with the sun and watch these trees create lacework on the sky.
I posted last year about home and about wanting to paint a house and plant a garden.
And 14 months later here we are. About to do all those things and more.
I can't wait.

finding time

... to post this quickly.
I haven't been here for a while.
I have many and no excuses.

This giant clock was found dumped on the street.
It is huge and heavy and made out of metal.
A tower stopwatch for swimmers from a swimming pool perhaps.
Such a great find for a bower bird like me.
Dragged quickly back to the new nest..... X

butterfly

hello
there are a lot of people doing the 'drawing challenge' this week.
nadine's choice of butterfly as a theme is a popular one.
for me, butterflies symbolize fragile beauty and change.
and perhaps too the crazy flight a teenage girl takes, from flower to flower, as she metamorphs into the woman she will become... i am sharing my space with a few of them at the moment!

i screenprinted Hormonal Girl here in this lovely little studio.
lucky to be invited to spend sunday here.

This is a beautiful interiors book.
I love the eastern way of incorporating the 5 elements into their homes.
air, earth, wood, fire, water.
Utilizing space and light, living with nature, organic materials, things made in a kiln, baked from mud, carved from bamboo...
